International friendly | May 30 2010 World/Africa Cup qualifiers | June 6 Rwanda’s Amavubi Stars will play their international friendly match against Malawi on May 30, local football ruling body, Rwanda Football Federation, have confirmed.
Speaking to Times Sport on Saturday, The Federation’s Secretary General Jules Kalisa confirmed the dates. “The team will fly out to Blantyre on May 28 and the match will be played on May 30,” Kalisa said. He added that the Amavubi Stars will spend a further two days in Malawi after the friendly match before embarking on a direct flight to Zambia on June 3. The friendly match against Malawi is aimed at sharpening Branko Tucak’s team ahead of the crucial World/African Cup qualifier with Zambia. Rwanda is aiming at repeating the 2004 success where they clinched their maiden qualification to the Tunis African Nations Cup finals. Meanwhile, a 25-man squad made of home based players has started intensive preparations for Zambia game. The team is undergoing daily double training sessions at Amahoro stadium. After drawing their first game against Algeria, Rwanda needs a good result in Zambia to keep their qualification hopes alive. Zambia also played out to a 1-all draw away to Egypt in Cairo.
