APR 1-0 Gor Mahia

Nine-time league winners APR enjoyed Valentines Day in style after ousting Kenya’s Gor Mahia 1-0 to reach the next round of the Caf Confederation Cup in a match yesterday at Nyamirambo stadium.

Starlet striker Haruna Niyonzima hit a 90th minute thunderbolt to sink Gor Mahia, who played a defensive game throughout. Gor Mahia striker never threatened Aime Ndizeye in APR goal for the whole 90 minutes thus allowing the home team room to dominate the proceedings.

Skipper Mbuyu Twite, Labama Bokota and Bokungu were wasteful in front of Gor Mahia goal. The Kenyan cup winners had their goalie to thank for his excellent saves as his side were looking to overturn the 5-0 deficit from the first leg.

APR qualified to the next round on a 6-0 goals aggregate and next face Egypt’s El Houdoud, who got a bye to the first round proper.
