FERWAFA Chief Nzamwita attends CAF General Assembly in Ethiopia
The Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) President, Mr. Nzamwita Vincent is in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia for the General Assembly of the Confederation of Africa Football (CAF) which begins tomorrow at the African Union Headquarters.
The General Assembly will begin with a Caf Forum on the evolution of the African Football with a theme: Football and Politics in Africa: Interactions, Convergence, and splits. 60 years of a marriage of passion and reason. The building of a Pan African ideal is a must for the professionalization and the modernization of African football. Future perspectives for CAF.
The Forum will tackle different issues such as the Role of African Football in the building of youth African states - for the most being independent since the beginning of the sixties, role of governments and of FIFA/ CAF, Sources of Financing, financing model, economic impact and value of competitions (TV rights, infrastructure, building capacity), role of FIFA, CAF and the members to use the football against the scourges of the continent –Social responsibility should be in the centre of the daily football management of and not at its periphery, player at the centre of the game - Protection of players and youth –Contractual obligations and fundamental rights. Fight against match fixing, Football and sport as an essential vector for the promotion Gender equality – fight against discrimination.
The CAF General Assembly will coincide with the 60th founding anniversary of CAF. Five-hundred participants including CAF member countries and well known football players are expected at the event.
The main attraction at the CAF Assembly will be the Presidential election with Madagascar FA boss, Ahmad Ahmad, challenging the incumbent Dr. Issa Hayatou. The CAF President elections will be held on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
