CAF CC: 11 Créateurs arrives on Thursday ahead of Saturday’s clash against Rayon Sports

Posted on Mar 16 2017

Malian side AS Onze Créateurs de Niaréla are expected in the country on Thursday afternoon ahead of their return leg of the CAF Total Confederation Cup first round which will be played on Saturday at Amahoro National Stadium.

The AS Onze Créateurs de Niaréla delegation which was supposed to arrive at Kigali International Airport at 9am aboard Kenya Airways has rescheduled their arrival to 15h00.

The Malian outfit which edged Rayon Sports to a 1-0 win courtesy of Boubacar Samassékou’s lone strike in Bamako last week will train at Amahoro Stadium on Friday ahead of the Saturday’s official match.

Rayon Sports who have been in thorough preparations since returning from Bamako early this week will be aiming for a two-goal margin to sail to the next round.

The Blues skipper Eric Ndayishimiye has urged his teammates to ensure they are fully focused on the tough mission of eliminating Mali’s Onze Createurs.

“We have to give our best against Onze Créateurs in the return leg, we have a chance to turn the score around because we will be playing in front of ours fans.

“Losing 1-0 can happen to any team but what we need now is to stay focused on the return game and go for not just the win but for the ticket to the next round too, we know they are a good side but for us the game is like a final.”

In Saturday’s decisive game, the blues need to avoid conceding any goal at home and ensure they register a 2-0 win to be on the safe side of qualifying to the next round or a 1-0 win which would take both sides to a penalty shoot-out to decide the eventual winner since they will all be tied to a 1-all goal aggregate.

The 16 triumphant teams from this first round two-legged fixture will face the 16 losers from the Champions League first round. The 16 eventual winners of the play-off round will advance to the lucrative group stage.

Rayon Sports, who are top of the national league table, reached the first round of Africa’s second biggest club competition after eliminating South Sudan’s Al Wau Salaam in the preliminary round, 6-0 on goal aggregate.
