[Updated]: Nzamwita formally submits bid to remain FERWAFA president

FERWAFA incumbent president Vincent Nzamwita has submitted his bid to remain at the helm of Rwanda’s football governing body for a second term.

Nzamwita submitted his nomination papers before the FERWAFA Electoral Committee on Friday afternoon, 16h45 at the federation’s headquarters in Remera.

Rwanda Football Federation will hold elections for the FERWAFA president in their extra-ordinary general assembly slated for September 10, 2017.

Speaking to Ferwafa.rw after submitting his nominations forms, Nzamwita said, “I have submitted my nomination forms to the FERWAFA Electoral Committee as required by the Electoral Guidelines,”

“I want to see if I can earn the backing of the General Assembly as their president for the next term of office. My plans for the next term will be revealed during the scheduled period once my nomination papers have been approved by the Electoral Committee,” added Nzamwita.

The list of members that will constitute the executive committee as submitted by the incumbent president Nzamwita in his nomination forms include; Nizeyimana Olivier (Vice President), Hakizimana Moussa (Medical Commission), Kagabo Patrick (Women Football Commission) and Nshimiyimana Alexis Redamptus (Youth Development Commission).

Others are Munyankaka Ancille (Technical Commission), Ruhamiriza Eric (Refereeing Commission), Mukangoboka Christine (Finance Commission), Nikuze Valentine (Marketing Commission), AIP. Ntakirutimana Diane (Security Commission), Kajangwe Joseph (Competition Commission) and Masumbuko Moussa (Legal Commission).

The deadline for the submission of nominations of candidatures is on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at 11:00am at Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA).

Between July 17-22, the FERWAFA Electoral Committee is expected to review and approve the candidatures before coming up with a provisional list of qualified candidates on August 8, 2017.

Campaigns for the qualified candidates will officially begin on August 14 and end on September 9, just a day before the elections.

Nzamwita has been president of Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) since January 2014.
