APR Fc, Rayon Sports get off to perfect start in Agaciro Championship

Posted on Sep 09 2017

Traditional rivals APR Fc and Rayon Sports recorded excellent performances in the opening matches of the 2017 Agaciro Football Championship which were played on Saturday at Amahoro Stadium.

In the opening game, APR Fc thumped AS Kigali 2-0 to go top of the standings with three points courtesy of two brilliant goals from Maxime Sekamana and Issa Bigirimana.

In the second game of the day, Rayon Sports edged Police Fc thanks to a 74th minute header from defender Mugabo Gabriel following a well taken corner from Pierre Kwizera.

After the opening matches, APR Fc lead the standing on three points with a superior goal difference over rivals Rayon Sports who also amassed three points.

The second match day of the Agaciro Football Championship will be played on Wednesday, September 13 when APR Fc will take on Police Fc at 15:30 before Rayon Sports takes on AS Kigali at 18:00.

The final match day action is due on Saturday, September 16 where AS Kigali will be up against Police Fc while APR Fc will lock horns with Rayon Sports in a rival battle.

The Agaciro Development Fund football championship is being staged as part of raising funds towards the Agaciro Development Fund, the country’s Rwanda’s sovereign wealth fund.

Agaciro Development Fund was introduced during the 2011 National Dialogue and was launched in August 2012 to build up public savings to achieve self-reliance and accelerate socio-economic development.

Police FC are defending champions having won the inaugural Agaciro Development Fund tournament staged in 2015 following a 1-0 win over Sunrise Fc in the final.
