Amavubi begin intensive CHAN 2018 preps in Sousse

Rwanda Men’s senior team, Amavubi begun intensive training in Sousse, Tunisia on Wednesday ahead of the Total 2018 African Nations Championship which begin on Janaury 13 in Casablanca, Morocco.

Rwanda is pooled in Group C alongside Libya, Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea will play all her matches in Tanger.

The team composed of players from the Azam Rwanda Premier League are now camping at El Mouradi Club Kantaoui in Sousse, Tunisia following their arrival on Tuesday night from Kigali.

They held double training sessions on Wednesday under the guidance of head coach Antoine Hey assisted by assistant coach Vincent Mashami and goalkeeper’s coach Higiro Thomas at El Mouradi training facility.

Head Coach Antoine told Ferwafa.rw on Wednesday afternoon that all players are in good shape and committed to have a successful training camp in Tunisia which will fully put the team in good hape ready to compete for honours at the African Nations Championship in Morocco.

“The players arrived yesterday (Tuesday) after a very long trip from Kigali via Doha. The trip was very tiring, so we couldn’t train yesterday (Tuesday). We just reached the hotel, getting used to the environment, held a short meeting,”

“Today (Wednesday), we had two training sessions, and we will continue on Thursday and Friday, then play the arranged friendly matches on Saturday against Sudan and on Sunday, we will play against Namibia behind closed doors before playing the most important friendly match against Algeria next Wednesday, January 10,”

“We have all players ready, no injuries, no worries. The atmosphere in camp is as usual, very disciplined and focused and professional. We have one week of fully preparing our side, allplayers will get playing time in all the friendlies we will play,”

“We hope that we don’t get injuries or setbacks as we work on our final pieces of getting the team ready for CHAN tournament,” added Coach Antoine.

The Africa Nations Championship will attract Morocco, Mauritania, Guinea, Sudan, Cote d’Ivoire, Namibia, Zambia, Uganda, Libya, Equatorial Guinea, Nigeria, Rwanda, Angola, Burkina Faso, Cameroon and Congo Brazzaville.
