Total CHAN 2018: Amavubi holds maiden training session in Tanger

Rwanda Men’s senior football team, Amavubi, held their first training session on Friday evening in a chilly Tanger as they prepared for the opening game of Group C of the 2018 Total Africa Nations Championship.

The 2018 Africa Nations Championship begins on Saturday with host Morocco taking on Mauritania in the tournament opener at the Complexe Sportif Mohamed V in Casablanca.

Group C action will begin on Monday as Libya takes on Equatorial Guinea in the opening game before Rwanda takes on Nigeria in the second game of the day.

On Friday, Amavubi trained at annexe 2 of the Stade Grande de Tanger following their arrival in Tanger on Thursday afternoon.

On a cold Friday evening, the country’s 23-man national players were involved in the session which was closely monitored by the entire technical team led by Coach Antoine Hey.

The training session lasted for one hour and twenty minutes training session before Amavubi left the venue for Nigeria to conduct their session following their arrival in Tanger earlier today.

Earlier, in the morning, Rwanda delegation underwent a CAF Arrival Meeting at Royal Tulip Hotel. The meeting involved passport check and study session which tackled the key aspects of the tournament related to technical, medical, refereeing as well as marketing and media rights.

Training continues on Saturday at 6pm (8pm) and on Sunday, the team will use Stade Grande de Tanger for the official training session which will start from 20:45 until 21:45 (22:45 to 23:45 Kigali time).

Rwanda is placed in Group C alongside 2014 champions Libya, Nigeria and Equatorial Guinea.

The Amavubi team will open its campaign at the Total 2018 CHAN Finals against Nigeria on Monday.
