Full house as Junior Wasps intensify preps ahead of Kenya tie

The National U-20 football team, Junior Wasps, have stepped up preparations following the arrival of all foreign based players.

Rwanda will face Kenya in the return leg of the first round of the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations Qualifiers scheduled to be played on Saturday, April 21 at Stade de Kigali.

The team which started intensive preparations on Tuesday has been boosted by the arrival of all foreign based players.

Belgium-based duo of defender Dylan Maes who plays for Belgium’s Waasland Beveren U-18 team and midfielder Samuel Gueulette who plays for Belgium’s KAA Gent U-19 side joined camp on Wednesday morning while Ugandan based midfielder Mugabo Tumwine Azeedi who plays for Ugandan side Bul Fc’s Junior team joined earlier on Tuesday evening.

The youthful team will continue their preparations at Stade de Kigali on Thursday and Friday morning before switching to double sessions from Saturday until mid next week as when head coach Mashami Vincent will be trimming the squad to twenty players in build-up to the game.

Rwanda goes into the return leg with an away goal advantage (1-1) secured in the first leg played on April 1 in Machakos, Kenya.

If the Junior Wasps qualify for the next round, they will meet defending champions Zambia.

The final qualifying round will be staged in July with the winner earning a slot to next year’s Africa U-20 Cup of Nations finals tournament in Niger.

The Junior Wasps Provisional Squad:
