Coach Kayiranga scouting on potential national women Team players

The National Women Team Technical Staff led by Head Coach Kayiranga Jean Baptista Kayiranga is holding a nation-wide scouting stint as he seeks to find possible players who will constitute the national women team.

The task is aimed at finding a strong a national women team which will represent Rwanda at the CECAFA Women Challenge Cup due in Kigali from May 11-222, 2018.

Besides Kayiranga, the nation-wide scouting which is being done in assistance with assistant coaches Mbarushimana Shabani and Umunyana Seraphina, goal keeper coach Maniraguha Claude and Executive Committee Member in charge of women football, Mukangoboka Christine started on April 10.

The technical staff visited and watched training sessions of Gicumbi-based women football club Inyemera Wfc on April 10 and ES Mutunda on April 11. On schedule is today is Bugesera Wfc today, Rambura WFC tomorrow.

Over the weekend, the technical team will split themselves to watch return leg matches of the national women football league clubs due on Sunday, April 15.

Coach Kayiranga will monitor the league game match between Scandinavia and Inyemera due in Rubavu, Umunyana Seraphine will take care of Kamonyi Wfc vs Gakenke in Remera Rukoma while Mbarushimana Shaban will monitor Bugesera Wfc and AS Kigali which will be played in Kamabuye.

The Technical team will then name 40 players who will join camp from Monday, April 16 as they seek to select 30 players who will remain in camp until early May when the squad will further be trimmed to 23 in build-up to the tournament.

The CECAFA Women Challenge Cup attract eight nations which will be grouped in two pools of four teams each. The participating nations include; hosts Rwanda, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zanzibar, Burundi, Ethiopia and Djibouti.

The CECAFA Women Tournament which will be funded by FIFA, was revived last year once again since 1989. Uganda hosted the 2016 edition at the FUFA Technical center in Njeru where failed go past the group stage after losing to Tanzania and Ethiopia 3-2 respectively in Group B.

Tanzania edged Kenya in the final to win the championship whilst Ethiopia piped Uganda to third place.
