Rayon Sports in Maputo ready for CD Costa do Sol Clash

Rwandan champions Rayon Sports Fc arrived in Maputo, Mozambique on Monday ahead of Wednesday’s return leg of the second round of the CAF Confederation Cup against Clube de Desportos da Costa do Sol.

Rayon Sports Fc who have a 3-0 goal advantage takes on CD Costa do Sol on Wednesday night, 19:00 at Estádio do Zimpeto.

The Blues, currently residing at 4-star Pestana Rovuma in Maputo will hold their mandatory match day -1 training session tonight at Estádio do Zimpeto at the match venue reserved for tomorrow’s action.

Speaking to local media before Rayon Sport Fc departure to Mozambique on Sunday, head coach Jacky Ivan Minnaert said, “We are going to Mozambique to play our usual game. We had enough time to prepare the return leg, it’s a game which will not be easy for us because our opponents will all be out in search of goals but it won’t be easy for them too,”

Burundian pair of Pierre Kwizera and Bon Fils Caleb Bimenyimana are pivotal players who will be out of the return leg due to suspensions received in the previous matches.

Rayon Sports need a goalless draw or not lose by more than 2 goals while Costa do Sol needs to score four times without reply to eliminate Rayon Sports.

The match will be officiated by Burundian referees Thierry Nkurunziza, Shabani Niyungeko and Ramadhan Nijimbere.

The winner of the two-legged tie will advance to the group stage of the continent’s second biggest club competition.
