CAF CC: Rayon Sports in Dar ready for Yanga Clash

Posted on May 15 2018

Rwandan league champions Rayon Sports Fc arrived in Tanzanian capital, Dar es Salaam early this morning ahead of tomorrow’s second Group D game in CAF Confederation Cup.

Rayon Sports Fc and Young Africans face each other on Wednesday at 18h00 at the 60,000-seater Tanzania National Stadium.

Rwanda started the group stage campaign on a positive note registering a 1-all draw against Kenya’s Gor Mahia at Stade de Kigali on May 6.

The Tanzanian champions are winless in their last seven matches and suffered an away 4-0 mauling at the hands of Group D leaders USM Alger of Algeria.

Heading into the encounter, Rayon Sports FC coach Ivan Minnaert said, “We will go into Wednesday’s game with a mission of securing a win. Yanga is a tricky side depending on recent performances but we will try to ensure that we secure the needed away result,”

Yanga, having surrendered their Tanzanian league title to rivals Simba, have lately been battling a series of challenges, including poor results on the pitch and a player protest over unpaid dues.

Rayon Sport FC is expected to hold their official pre-match training session today at the National Stadium of Tanzania in Dar es Salaam.

In another Group D encounter, Gor Mahia will host USM Alger of Algeria on Wednesday at Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi.
