Rayon, Sunrise face-off in Peace Cup semi-final tie

Rayon Sports FC is away to Sunrise Fc on Monday afternoon in the first leg of their semi-final round match of the Peace Cup 2018 competition.

The Blues head into the tie following their return from Algeria where they played a 1-all draw with USM Alger last week.

The Blues, who were without some of their key players, held USM Alger 1-1 on Sunday to collect a vital point away, less than two weeks after losing 2-1 to the same side in Kigali.

The game was initially supposed to be played this Friday but was shifted due to Rayon Sports engagement in Caf Confederation Cup against USM Alger.

The return leg between these two sides will be held on August 9 at Stade de Kigali.

In the other semi-final match, Mukura VS and APR FC played to a goalless draw at Stade Huye last Friday. The return leg will be staged on August 8 at Stade Amahoro.

Eventual winners will head into the 2018 Peace Cup final slated for August 12, 2018.

The Azam Rwanda Premier League champions APR FC who are in contention for the Peace Cup title has already earned their ticket to represent Rwanda at the CAF Champions League competition in 2019.

Should the military side win a Peace Cup and league double, AS Kigali will play in the 2019 CAF Confederation Cup as Azam Rwanda Premier League’s first runners-up.
