2019 Afcon Qualifier: Mashami names Rwanda squad for CAR tie

Rwanda’s Amavubi Head Coach Mashami Vincent has named his squad for the fifth match day encounter of Group H’s 2019 AFCON Qualifying round against Central African Republic.

Rwanda hosts Central African Republic in match day five of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations’ Qualifier on Sunday, November 18, 2018, 15:30 at Stade Huye in Huye District.

The Amavubi head coach Mashami Vincent announced the Rwanda squad to face Central African Republic on Tuesday morning at Ferwafa headquarters.

“We are starting residential camp on November 8 in Huye and we will begin intensive training the following day until November 16. We expect to start camp with the summoned local players while the eight professional players summoned will join camp as per FIFA stipulated international break rules,” said Coach Mashami.

Mashami further added, “Regardless of what has happened to our previous matches, we must win this game to secure maximum points. We started this qualifying campaign on a poor note but we need to finish on a positive note despite being out of next year’s Afcon finals,”

The new players summoned to the national team include Mukura VS defender Rugirayabo Hussein, Rubanguka Steve (Patromaasmeshelen, Belgium), Kalisa Rashid (SC Kiyovu), Mushimiyimana Mohamed (Police FC) and Shema Tresor (Torhout 1992km FC, Belgium).

Notable players missing in the squad for the upcoming qualifying match are skipper Haruna Niyonzima (SC Simba, Tanzania), Mugiraneza Jean Baptista (APR FC) and goalie Olivier Kwizera (Free State Stars, South Africa).

After four matches played, Rwanda is placed bottom of Group H standings with one point, nine points behind leaders Guinea who are followed by former African champions Cote d’Ivoire who sit second on the log with seven points while CAR is placed in third position with 4 points.
