CAF Confederation Cup: AS Kigali held by KMC in Kigali

Posted on Aug 10 2019

AS Kigali were were held to a goalless draw by Tanzanian side KMC in the first leg of their CAF Confederations Cup Preliminary round tie on Saturday at Stade de Kigali.

The draw at home now leaves Kigali City sponsored side with all to do in the return leg in Dar es Salaam on August 23 if they are to retain any hopes of progressing to the first round of qualification. AS Kigali must now win away from home or earn a scoring draw to proceed.

Both sides had minimal chances of finding the net, something the Rwandan side has to address if they are to reach the next round.

The winner between AS Kigali and KMC will play either Uganda’s Proline FC or Malawi’s Masters Security Service in the next stage.

Proline thumped Masters Security 3-0 in Kampala in one of the other matches played on Saturday.

The Ugandan side will head into the return match with a huge advantage after winning easily at home. Ivan Bogere’s hat-trick was enough to give Proline FC a 3-0 win against visitors Masters Security of Malawi in a Caf Confederation Cup match on Saturday.
