CAF CC: Nshimiyimana optimistic ahead of KMC tie breaker

Posted on Aug 20 2019

AS Kigali coach Eric Nshimiyimana will be hoping to turn around the table when they face Tanzania’s KMC in the return leg of their CAF Confederations Cup preliminary round tie later this week.

The second encounter will be played away in the Tanzanian port city Dar es Salaam.

KMC held AS Kigali to goalless draw in first encounter at Kigali Stadium on August 11.

“The team played very well. Everybody played very well during the first leg but it now over. So we have another match ahead of us, we need to start all over again,” explained Nshimiyimana.

The draw at home now leaves the City of Kigali-sponsored side having to win or secure a scoring draw away of they are to advance to the next stage

“We need to concentrate on the next match. That match is going to be huge. We are preparing well for the return leg, which is the final for us, a must-win,” he said.

Both sides had minimal chances of finding the net in the first leg, something the Rwandan side has to address if they are to reach the next round.

“We were not aggressive in front of the goal. We gave in to all the duels by our opponent. We have retreated and usually when you do not win duels, the team that does it wins.” he noted

Things are not helped either with the loss by Nshimiyimana’s boys to Police FC in a warm up game that was played at Amahoro National Stadium, in which the latter won 3-1 against AS Kigali.
