TOTAL CHAN 2020: Rwanda bows out of the tournament.

Rwanda National Team ‘’Amavubi Stars’’ bows out of the Total African Nations Championship 2020 after suffering a 1-0 defeat to Guinea on Sunday, January 31 in Limbe.

Early in the game, Guinea was reduced to 10 men following Mory Kante’s red card in the 15th minute for a dangerous foul on Skipper Jacques Tuyisenge who got substituted as a result of the injury he sustained from that challenge.

The First Half ended goalless with both teams failing to open the scoring despite attacking efforts.

Amavubi Stars goalkeeper Olivier Kwizera was sent off in the 58th minute for fouling Guinea striker Yakhouba Barry outside the 18-yard box. Morlaye Sylla scored for Guineans from the resulting free-kick.

Amavubi piled more pressure on the Guinea defense looking for an equalizer but failed to find the net. Sugira missed a sitter to level the stakes in Stade Limbe.

Guinea qualified to the Semi-Final of the coveted Total African Nations Championship where they will face Mali in a Western Africa derby.

The ‘’Amavubi Stars’’ will fly back to Kigali via Rwandair on Wednesday February 3rd at 6.10 PM where they will undertake a mandatory 24 hours isolation in Bugesera.
