Under the golden skies of Rubavu and the spirit of progress, the curtains gracefully closed on a transformative three-day workshop dedicated to empowering Women Football Administrators from Rwanda’s Second Division teams. From 28th to today 30th July, passion met professionalism as women’s Teams leaders came together not only to learn, but to lead.
This vibrant gathering, supported by the FIFA Women’s Football Development Program, was more than a workshop. It was a milestone. Led by two of FIFA’s distinguished experts, Ms. Thubaelihle Bridgette Sibanda and Ms. Sylvania Armel Azihar, the sessions painted a new canvas for women’s football leadership in Rwanda, one grounded in skill, ambition, and unity.
Ms. Sibanda, with heartfelt sincerity, captured the soul of the moment: “We came as strangers, but we part as family.” Her belief in the participants was unwavering. “In ten years, these women will stand not just as administrators, but as true visionaries of their clubs.”
Throughout the workshop, participants didn’t merely absorb theory, they brought it to life. Through interactive sessions, scenario-based practicum exercises, and collective problem-solving. Participants showcased their readiness to steer their teams into a new era of professionalism and growth.
The voices of the participants echoed joy, gratitude, and renewed purpose. Many testified to the practical value of the training, vowing to implement new strategies in club management, talent development, and structural organization.
In her closing remarks, the FERWAFA Commissioner in charge of Women Football Development celebrated the deep collaboration between FIFA and FERWAFA. “This is not just a workshop; it’s a declaration of intent, an unwavering pledge to elevate women’s football with integrity and long-term vision,” she affirmed, promising continuity in such impactful programs.
And the journey doesn’t stop here. As the Rubavu chapter concludes with color and conviction, the next begins, Division One Women Teams will step into the same circle of empowerment from 31st July to 2nd August 2025.
This workshop is a shining testament to what happens when purpose meets partnership. It’s not just about learning management; it’s about igniting leadership. Rwanda’s women in football are rising, and the world is beginning to take notice.
