Champions Gakenke, Rambura Earn Promotion to Rwanda Women Super League

Champions Gakenke Ladies FC and Rambura WFC have officially secured promotion to the 2026/27 Rwanda Women Super League season following an impressive campaign in the 2025/2026 Rwanda Women’s Championship Promotion Play-offs.

The decisive Matchday 6 fixtures played on 17 May 2026 saw Just Sport WFC defeat Greenland WFC 2-1 at Bugarama, while Gakenke Ladies FC registered a convincing 3-1 victory over Rambura WFC at Nyabihu Pitch in the Rwanda Women’s Championship Promotion Play-Offs. 

Despite the defeat on the final day, Rambura WFC accumulated 11 points from six matches to finish second in the standings, while Gakenke Ladies FC topped the table with 12 points after remaining unbeaten throughout the play-offs.


Final standings confirmed Gakenke Ladies FC in first place, followed by Rambura WFC, with Just Sport WFC finishing third on eight points and Greenland WFC fourth with one point.


In addition to securing promotion to the Rwanda Women Super League, the competition winners will receive a trophy, gold medals, and a cash prize of RWF 10 million. Awards will also be distributed to teams finishing up to fifth place in recognition of their performance throughout the competition.

The successful qualification marks a major achievement for both clubs as they prepare to compete in the top tier of women’s football in Rwanda next season.
