The BK Pro League 2026/27 season has kicked off in style, with goals, tight contests and an early surprise as Gicumbi FC defeated Police FC 2–1 at Kigali Pelé Stadium on Monday 07th September 2026.

Gicumbi’s victory was arguably the biggest talking point of the opening round, as they secured all three points against a Police FC side expected to make a strong start to the campaign.

Alexis Kitenge Hakizimana put Gicumbi ahead in the 22nd minute before Police FC responded through Keffa Tangara, who levelled the contest in the 28th minute.

The visitors, however, had the final say. Arsene Tuyisenge converted from the spot in the 71st minute, restoring Gicumbi’s lead and securing a memorable 2–1 away victory.

The result capped a lively opening round, with Amagaju FC, Marine FC and Mukura VS also picking up wins, while Etincelles FC and Sunrise FC shared the spoils in a goalless draw.

With the opening weekend now wrapped up, the BK Pro League has already delivered goals, surprises and plenty of excitement, setting the tone for what promises to be a thrilling 2026/27 campaign.
