Rwanda senior men’s national team head coach Stephen Constantine visited the Amavubi U15 camp at the FERWAFA Accommodation Facility on Tuesday, 20 October 2026, to encourage the young players ahead of their departure for the FIFA U-15 World Cup Festival in Baku, Azerbaijan.

The 14 players selected for the festival, alongside the technical staff led by head coach Thierry HITIMANA, met Constantine, who encouraged them to embrace the opportunity and remain focused on their development as they represent Rwanda on the international stage.

Constantine highlighted Rwanda’s national team development pathway, which aims to help young players progress from the U15 level to the senior national team, with the support of FERWAFA National Youth Development Officer Nicholas De Long.

He told the players that their selection was an important opportunity to develop their abilities and bring them closer to their dream of representing the senior national team, Amavubi.

The head coach also urged the young players to use the festival as a platform to prepare for their future professional careers, emphasizing discipline, good conduct and the importance of competing against some of the world’s top footballing nations.

“You need to remember that now, at your young age, you are representing Rwanda and 14 million people. We need correct behaviour first. The results will come. Now, it is about competing against some of the top teams in the world. To reach the highest level of a football career, you need to work. It takes a lot of sacrifice and discipline,” Constantine told the players.

He further reminded the team of their responsibility to uphold Rwanda’s image throughout their stay in Azerbaijan, urging them to maintain a professional appearance, dress appropriately and demonstrate good behaviour wherever they go.

U15 are scheduled to depart Kigali on Wednesday, 21 October, for the FIFA U-15 World Cup Festival, which will take place in Baku from 22 to 30 October 2026.

Rwanda have been drawn into Group Y and will begin their campaign on 24 October against Côte d’Ivoire. On 25 October, they will face Vanuatu and Albania before concluding their group-stage fixtures on 26 October against Turks and Caicos Islands and Mauritania.
