FERWAFA Hosts GPS Technology Workshop to Strengthen Player Performance Monitoring

The Rwanda Football Federation (FERWAFA) is hosting a two-day GPS Technology in Football Workshop at the FERWAFA Accomodation Facility in Kigali, bringing together approximately 70 participants, with priority given to club fitness coaches, medical teams and coaches.

Held under the theme “From Data to Performance: Understanding, Monitoring & Optimising Player Performance,” the workshop aims to strengthen participants’ knowledge of GPS technology in monitoring player workloads, assessing physical performance, supporting injury prevention and improving training through data-driven decisions.

The training is facilitated by four experts: Claudio Altieri, Amavubi Senior National Team Performance Specialist; Serge Mwambali, Amavubi Performance Analyst; Theo Le Floch; and Andrew Howit, all bringing expertise in GPS technology and performance data analysis.

The workshop which is running until 30th October combines classroom sessions with practical on-pitch training, equipping participants with skills to interpret GPS data, monitor players’ physical demands and apply performance indicators to optimise training and player management.

Through this initiative, FERWAFA continues to promote professional development and the integration of sports science into football, strengthening clubs’ capacity for data-driven player development and performance optimisation.
