The morning sun of October 28th, 2025, rose gently over Rwanda’s rolling hills, painting the sky with strokes of promise.
From Kigali to Gicumbi, the air was alive, not with noise, but with purpose, for on this day, the Minister of Sports, Mrs. Nelly MUKAZAYIRE, walked side by side with the FERWAFA President, Mr. SHEMA NGOGA Fabrice, joined by the Second Vice President in charge of Technical Matters and Development, who also serves as Acting General Secretary Mr. Richard MUGISHA, the Commissioner in charge of organizing Competitions, Mr. Désiré NIYITANGA, and other members of the FERWAFA staff overseeing the works. Together, they represented a team not just managing construction, but building a legacy.
They began their journey at the heart of the capital, to the FERWAFA Accommodation Facility in Remera, a structure that now stands as both home and hope for the nation’s game, which will be also having an artificial turf under construction.
Walls rising, fields expanding, spaces breathing with the spirit of youth, this was not just construction; it was rebirth.
“This is more than concrete and turf,” the Minister said softly, her gaze resting on the green beneath her feet.
“It is where effort becomes opportunity, and where our children will learn that the future is played, not predicted.”
Impressed by the FERWAFA Accommodation facility progress and all its components, Minister Nelly urged the FERWAFA leadership not to settle for less saying,
“Let’s add joy to our facilities,” she suggested warmly.
“Include spaces for other games like Padel, Bowling, and games that gather people and spices up the football vibes because sport must be both performance and pleasure and kindly make a close follow up to have these projects done and operational by the beginning of 2026.”
Her words, like sunlight, seemed to energize the team around her.
President SHEMA NGOGA Fabrice, representing the voice and vision of FERWAFA, responded with conviction,
“Madam Minister, we hear your call. FERWAFA will continue to push harder, ensuring every project meets its time, and that these facilities soon echo with the sounds of play, pride, and unity.”
From Kigali, her steps carried her northward to Gicumbi District, where the artificial turf unfurled like a promise in progress layer by layer, line by line.
There, surrounded by workers, engineers, and local leaders, she paused again, visibly impressed by what she saw, applauded the dedication and discipline driving these projects forward, encouraging FERWAFA to keep the rhythm steady and strong.
Beyond Kigali and Gicumbi, the journey continues, new turfs are rising in Rusizi and Rutsiro Districts, each soon to host the first footsteps of a new generation of players when the dawn of 2026 arrives.
As the Minister’s visit concluded, the wind carried with it a whisper, not of farewell, but of beginning.
The fields glistened under the midday sun, as if alive with the dreams they would soon nurture.
And so, under the Rwandan sky, where effort meets vision and unity meets progress, the dream of modern football infrastructures grows, not only in soil and steel, but in the heart of a nation determined to rise, play, and inspire.
