SIX RWANDANS SET TO HELP IN THE DELIVERY OF AFCON 2025

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has picked six Rwandans to help in the successfully delivery of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, which is set to take centre stage in Morocco, bringing with it a wave of anticipation, innovation and promise as Africa’s flagship football competition returns for another historic chapter.

The six-Rwandan crew is led by centre referee Uwikunda Samuel who is among a total of 73 highly experienced match officials comprising 28 referees, 31 assistant referees, and 14 VAR officials.


Others include; Rwandan Premier League CEO Jules Karangwa who is the general coordinator of Stade Olympique in Rabat, Regis F. Uwayezu who will be acting as the assistant general coordinator of El Barid Stadium in Rabat, Hadidja Kayishakire who is the guest management officer at Complex Sportif Moulay Abdelah in Rabat, which will host both opening and the final matches of the tournament while Ferwafa events officer Sonia Isaro is the guest management officer at Grand Stade de Marrakech.

The TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 will kick-off on Sunday, 21 December 2025.

Fresh from their dramatic triumph on home soil, Cote d’Ivoire, crowned champions after defeating Nigeria in the final, arrive in Morocco determined to defend their title. The Elephants will be chasing a fifth continental crown, which would see them draw level with Ghana, and move closer to the competition’s most decorated nations - Egypt, with seven titles, and Cameroon, with five.
