HEROES CUP 2026: PATHS DRAWN, RIVALRIES IGNITE IN KIGALI

This afternoon at the FERWAFA Headquarters, the road to the Heroes Cup 2026 officially took shape as the draw for the tournament was conducted, setting the stage for a thrilling celebration of Rwandan football.

 

Organized annually in partnership between FERWAFA and the Chancellery for Heroes, National Orders and Decorations of Honour (CHENO), the Heroes Cup continues to stand as a symbol of honor, remembrance, and sporting excellence. This year’s edition will be played on January 28 and 29, with the grand finals scheduled for February 1, 2026, at Kigali Pelé Stadium.


Four of Rwanda’s top-performing teams from the 2024/2025 season earned their places in the competition: Rayon Sports FC, APR FC, AS Kigali FC, and Police FC. 


The draw delivered mouth-watering semi-final clashes. AS Kigali FC were drawn against APR FC, a fixture that promises intensity and tactical battles, while Police FC will face Rayon Sports FC in another high-stakes encounter. The semi-final matches will be played at Kigali Pelé Stadium, with APR FC vs AS Kigali FC on January 28, followed by Rayon Sports FC vs Police FC on January 29.


The winners of the men’s semi-finals will advance to the final on February 1, 2026, where the Heroes Cup trophy will be decided. 


In the women’s category, the final will see Rayon Sports WFC take on Indahangarwa FC, adding further prestige and excitement to the closing day of the tournament.


With the draw now complete, anticipation builds as clubs, players, and fans turn their focus to the pitch, where honor, pride, and the spirit of the Heroes Cup will once again come alive.
