The FERWAFA President Shema Ngoga Fabrice and representatives from second division league clubs have committed to enhancing the quality and competitiveness of domestic football.
During a consultative meeting held today at FERWAFA HQ in Remera, Kigali city, stakeholders discussed various strategies aimed at strengthening the second division league, focusing on improving infrastructure, increasing investment, and fostering better collaboration among clubs.
The meeting attracted Commissioner of Competitions, Niyitanga Désiré, and the General Secretary Bonnie MUGABE, reflected on the federation’s institutional commitment to inclusive dialogue and collaborative decision-making.
Deliberations placed significant emphasis on infrastructure development, particularly the quality of match venues and related facilities, as a critical enabler of a professionally organized championship and an enhanced match-day experience for players, officials, and supporters alike.
Addressing participants, President Shema underscored the strategic importance of the Second Division League within Rwanda’s football ecosystem, stating, “The second division league represents a vital foundation for the growth and sustainability of our football. It is imperative that we maintain regular consultative engagements to evaluate the championship’s progress, while placing particular emphasis on infrastructure development, as this will significantly enhance the overall quality of the competition and elevate standards across the board.”
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to sustained dialogue and partnership, reaffirming FERWAFA’s determination to position the second division league as a competitive, professionally managed, and development-driven league that plays a central role in advancing football in Rwanda.
