FIFA TDS Knowledge Exchange workshop concludes with commitment to shape next generation of African football talents

The four-day FIFA Talent Development Scheme (TDS) Knowledge Exchange Workshop concluded today in Kigali, marking the end of an impactful week dedicated to shaping the future of football talent development across Africa.



Hosted by FIFA in partnership with FERWAFA, the workshop brought together technical leaders and football development experts from several Member Associations to exchange ideas, experiences, and practical strategies aimed at strengthening youth football structures.

The final day focused on reflection, planning, and preparing for the next phase of implementation as their attention was drawn to the TDS 2026 Projects session, where teams worked on refining and strengthening their project applications for the next cycle of the FIFA Talent Development Scheme.


Later in the day, delegates took part in an important action planning session, allowing each federation to assess the week’s outcomes and map out priorities and objectives for the next three to six months. The session encouraged collaboration, accountability, and concrete planning to ensure the knowledge gained translates into real impact back home.


The workshop concluded with a closing session highlighting the major takeaways from the week, aligning participants on the next steps, and inspiring them to continue building stronger pathways for young football talent across the continent, namely, stronger collaboration between African Member Associations, improved strategies for identifying and developing young talent, clearer action plans for TDS implementation in 2026, Renewed commitment to long-term football development.

From insightful discussions to practical planning, the FIFA TDS workshop in Rwanda closed with optimism, unity, and a shared ambition to create better opportunities for the next generation of African football talent. Participants now return home inspired and equipped to turn ideas into action.
