The five-day FIFA Elite Youth Goalkeeper Coaches’ Workshop officially concluded today in Kigali after bringing together coaches from across the country for an intensive programme focused on modern goalkeeper development and youth football training methodologies.
The workshop, organized by FERWAFA in partnership with FIFA, ran from May 18 to 22 and formed part of ongoing efforts to strengthen technical capacity and youth football development in Rwanda.
Facilitated by a team of FIFA experts led by Callum Irving, the course provided participants with both theoretical and practical sessions focusing on goalkeeper coaching, talent identification, player development pathways, and modern training techniques tailored for elite youth football.
Throughout the workshop, participants engaged in field demonstrations, classroom discussions, and technical analysis sessions designed to improve coaching standards and equip local coaches with advanced knowledge aligned with international football development practices.
Speaking at the closing of the programme, participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn from FIFA experts and highlighted the importance of continuous education in raising the level of goalkeeper coaching and youth football development in the country.
