Scouts Equipped to Strengthen Rwanda’s Talent Identification Pathway

Twenty-five scouts (22 men and three women) have today, June 3, 2026 successfully completed a specialized Scouting Course aimed at strengthening talent identification and monitoring within Rwanda’s youth football development structures.

The participants, who are monitoring players competing in the Talent Development Scheme (TDS) and Rwanda Rising Stars U17 competitions, received training on modern scouting methods, including player observation, talent assessment, reporting, and long-term player monitoring. The course was delivered by Instructor Sosthène Habimana and Coach Cassa Mbungo.

Closing the training, FERWAFA Technical Director Gerard M. Buscher highlighted the importance of scouting in football development.

“Scouting is the starting point of every successful football development system. If we identify talent early, follow players closely, and evaluate them correctly, we create stronger opportunities for the future of our national teams and clubs,” he said.

He further encouraged participants to apply the knowledge gained during the course with professionalism and consistency as they continue their work across the country.

The newly trained scouts are expected to play a key role in identifying and supporting talented young players, helping strengthen Rwanda’s football talent pathway for the future.
